When a news story broke in Spring 2004, telling of an amazing discovery, only a few of those 'in the know' were aware of the involvement of Crawley Creatures.

In an attempt to promote his forthcoming book, author Allistair Mitchell concocted a tale that a 'pickled dragon' had been found in a garage last year. As part of an elaborate hoax he speculated that German scientists may have attempted to use the dragon to hoax their English counterparts at the end of the 19th century, when rivalry between the countries was intense.

News of the dragon spread like wildfire, with the internet buzzing with opinions and arguments as to the origins of the beast.

Eventually, of course, the truth was revealed.... and Crawley Creatures were revealed as the creators of the detailed model.

The dragon was sculpted by Colin Shulver and is made of silicon, with latex wings and nylon claws and teeth.
