Creatures worked on the Channel Four series Neanderthal.
Neanderthal is the story of the rise and fall of one of
the most successful human species that ever lived. A species
that survived for over a quarter of a million years, living
through and adapting to the most violent extremes of climate.
A species that thrived - until modern man came along.
Each
actor had their head smothered in dental alginate and then
plaster, producing a perfect replica of their face. A team
of make-up artists then moulded foam latex onto these head
casts to create the distinctive Neanderthal features.
Six individual prosthetic pieces were used on each actor
and each set could only be used once. For the cast of 8
Neanderthals, we had to produce nearly 1000 pieces for the
five week shoot.
